Dreams

Author: Chris Hanley

To day in dreams you held my hand.
I wondered far on snow-white sand.
No words were spoken yet I knew,
Inside my mind I pictured you.

If I could paint, a message in the sky.
Or catch a dolphin passing by.
How do I tell you that you're missed?
With lingered thoughts of how we kissed.

The miles, that keep you from my side.
Seem endless, like the hurt inside.
Now, alone with sorrow in my heart.
Counting days, that we are apart.

Tonight for dreams, I'll lay my head,
On some outlandish single bed,
Alone at night, I'll toss and turn.
My love for you will start to burn.

Memories flash before my eyes.
Laughter's echo's, even lies.
Playful romps before a fire.
Undulating hearts fulfilled desire.

How long I wonder can it last?
All memories of our recent past.
A smile emerges on my face,
Recalling words and deeds of grace.

I drift on clouds and fluffy things.
My head so light, my heart it sings.
I drift even deeper, in night's abyss.
But, oh how I miss that goodnight kiss.
